THere is more in a word than one may think!

"Jaime, why should I bother to find out what a word means? It`s just a word. Nothing happens if I skip it"

Well, I must say you are definitively right! Nothing happens. Doors are not open, possibilities are not explored, knowledge is not acquiesced, explanations are not received, ideas are not clarified, concepts are missing, jokes miss their fun, and actions are not understood. Definitively right, nothing happens.

Proof me right or wrong! Let us take three letters, three little letters that make a simple word. L A Y. What do you know about this little word? What does it mean? How many ways can it be used? Can you define it?

Now,  what is your impression about your findings? What is there in a word? Can we assume the cost of not knowing what a word means or the many doors that remain shut when I ignore a little word?

I am expecting your posted comments ASAP, remember if you hit first you hit twice!

  10. To be settled down, on a bed, for example.
It can also mean song, untrained, etc.
It all depends on the sentence and the way the word is used, for example, it's not the same to say: "A fish in the pond" to say: "You fish in the pond". In these 2 sentences the word fish is the same, but they have different meanings.
In any text every word is important for you to fathom the story. The word doesn't work alone, the sentence work with him. First thing you need to do is read the sentence carefully, second you need to search the word's meanings, and last you need to analize the sentence to choose which meaning fits the best. Of course no! Every little door is important in a text. A text is like your live, because the people who study hard and give the best of them and care about the little details, will be great persons. So, in conclusion from what I just said, I'm really sorry mister, but you are WRONG

  11. Maybe you would be wrong because if you are making a composition, I mean like an essay, a paragraph, a story etc…and you don’t have a dictionary to search for a word or something you would start thinking and find a synonym on any word that can replays the word that you was searching for the sentence.

  13. Mr. Jaime, I understood your irony and also your sarcasm in this text, and it´s true , nothing happens; nothing happens because you don´t undertand what you read, your imagination world's doors are closed, also you may confuse, your exploration of that new world call a book go to the trash, your knowledge don´t try new horizonts, even your imagination need a bit of that. So Mr. Jaime you´r right, because it´s true, nothing happens in a different sense; nothing happens because you may acquire nothing but a lot of questions, What is this talking about? But this what have to do with what I know? I don´t understand! Why?!!; so don´t LAY all words that you don´t understand without even looking for context clues. There´s all a world in a simple word

  16. Jaime I think you are completely right. I understood your irony, and in my opinion all what you said is true. What happen if you don't know the meaning of a simple word? You don't understand what the sentences want to tell you. So if you don't know the meaning of a SIMPLE WORD like lay, search it in the dictionary. And other thing that you have to do is to read the sentence carefully, because one word can have more than 1 meaning. I love the way that you used to answer the question, the way that you used the irony was very very amazing.
